Awards and Prizes

For Outstanding Contribution to Education and Training

In 2009 we established a new award to be voted for by the registrars. This award reflects the hard work and consistent efforts that somebody has made to further our training and the quality of our experience (it can be anybody of any grade within paediatrics!). We hope that this award will continue to encourage people to drive the quality of our training and remain enthusiastic about programme development.

Each year you will be asked for your nominations and we will aim for the prize to be presented at the annual paediatric social event. You can however nominate somebody at any time by e-mailing the chair of the education committee (currently Karen Aucott) with your nomination and the reasons why. Nearer the time of presentation, there will be a box available for nominations at training days if you wish to remain anonymous.

Below is a list of recommendations for things to consider when nominating people:

The Person/s nominated may have:

  • Demonstrated novel methods of teaching/training

  • Exceeded the normal/statutory requirements to deliver training/education

  • Inspired junior doctors to pursue a career in Paediatrics

  • Participated regularly in MRCPCH teaching

  • Delivered excellent training day teaching with positive feedback

  • Shown an interest in and furthered the career of local trainee paediatricians

  • Raised the profile of the region as a centre for excellent teaching/training in Paediatrics
