Paediatric Rheumatology Training in Nottingham

Nottingham Children's Hospital offer tertiary paediatric rheumatology services to a wide geographical area. Large numbers of children are seen in six-nine clinics per week. In patients and day-care patients are managed on the joint oncology-rheumatology ward and day-care unit. Clinics predominantly occur at Nottingham Children's Hospital (six per week). However, regular 'outreach' clinics take place in surrounding district general hospitals. In this way a 'hub and spoke' service is provided.

Nottingham is one of eight grid-accredited centres in the UK and as such provides training for national grid trainees. There is also plenty of opportunity for local non-grid trainees to experience six month placements in the subspecialty. Trainees wishing to gain 'with-an-interest' training can also request a one year attachment.
