East Midlands Paediatric Trainees Website
“Paediatric training in the East Midlands North (Nottingham) region
has much to recommend it. As a fifth
year SpR who also completed an
SHO rotation in the region, I feel I have received excellent
training in my chosen specialty. St1-3 trainees receive one
afternoon per week formal training, on a rolling curriculum basis.
All registrars/ST4-8 trainees attend a monthly training day with 75%
attendance at these meetings expected and achievable. Whilst Queens
Medical Centre acts as a hub for regional paediatric training, I
have been particularly impressed by the quality of training, both as
an SHO and SpR, during my DGH attachments.
Trainees, who have moved into the region from other areas in the UK,
comment favourably on the size of deanery – both numerically (a
smaller total
number of trainees making close teamwork across the region
possible), and geographically (a
relatively close network of DGHs). Personally, I have been very
impressed by the quality of training I have experienced during the
nine
years I have worked here; If you are considering application,
I can thoroughly recommend East Midlands North (Nottingham).”
