I spent 2 years in the Education Post at Derby. This is an excellent post if you are interested in education and teaching. Derby Medical School takes Graduate Entry students who then mix with the University of Nottingham students for their clinical attachments. This post gives you the opportunity to organise, develop and deliver a variety of teaching sessions. The post is associated with a fully funded MSc in Clinical Education at the University of Nottingham. The course requires some hard work but is enjoyable and worthwhile. In addition to teaching, half your daytime duties are in clinical care including outpatients. There is also a full on call commitment. This ensures that your clinical skills stay sharp! There are two other Education posts in the region, one based at Queens Medical Centre and the other at Lincoln. These posts also have some funding available for a MSc in Clinical Education. I applied for this post after completing my core higher specialist training. The post is for 2 years, 1 year that is taken as out of programme activity. I would highly recommend this post to anyone interested in education.
