"Welcome to our training region! I hope as you look through the pages on our website you will be able to get a sense of the attitude and atmosphere we are proud to encourage as a group of trainees.

Although the emphasis is to provide an excellent training programme, that will enable trainees to become proficient in all necessary competencies required for a career in Paediatrics, we also wish to produce well rounded and caring colleagues. In preparation for life as a consultant, emphasis is placed on supporting each other, self-directed learning and professional development. Trainees take control of their learning needs by organising their own training days and choosing speakers. We are able to learn from the local knowledge of our experienced consultants but are also able to host visiting eminent speakers.

We consider ourselves to be a friendly bunch and as well as our annual ‘away day’, which is a great opportunity to meet new colleagues, we try and get together for other social activities.

We have our own website www.emitten.org.uk that is run by our Education Committee and is a vital resource for information from training day programmes to up and coming courses and announcements from our programme director.
