Study Leave Policy
The Trent Region Study Leave
Policy is distributed to all doctors in the Trent region by the Postgraduate
Medical and Dental Education committee. Here are the sections which deal with
study leave for SpRs.
Registrars in years one and two should
receive a half day per week protected educational time with consultant
supervision this should be increased to one day per week in years three onwards.
This time will be for research and education and will not count against study
leave entitlement. This allowance may accumulate over the period of the training
programme, provided that the total amount due in the period of the training
programme is not taken until one year of the programme is completed.
Applications for leave in excess of 2
months must be considered by the appropriate regional speciality education
subcommittee and local postgraduate dean.
When calculating study leave include
weekends and Bank Holidays
Authorisation of private study leave is
discretionary and is subject to the support of the educational supervisor.
Leave is at a rate of 30 days per
annum.
Leave may be accumulated over a 3 year
period.
